UKAMB Scientific Advisory Board Terms of Reference
Main Aims
The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is a standing committee of the U.K. Association of Human Milk Banking (UKAMB). The SAB have the overall aims of developing and maintaining priorities for innovative basic, translational and clinical research, providing a source of advocacy for U.K. non-for-profit milk banks, and quality improvements strategies in human milk banking.
General Terms of Reference
- Provide advice to the Trustees on scientific matters; serve as partner to support development and facilitation of research with U.K. non-for-profit milk banks, provide oversight of evidence-based resources; and respond to requests from the Trustees in relation to scientific issues raised by the public and/or scientific community.
- Review the quality and relevance of internal and external requests for research support, and report findings to the Trustees.
- Assist the Trustees with the production of information on health and social aspects of human milk banking.

UKAMB supports non-profit milk banks by assisting them to fully implement NICE Guideline and to provide safe, screened human donor milk, fully track and trace compliance across the UK and Ireland. UKAMB also recognizes the responsibility and duty of care of milk banks in ensuring donors, donor's infants and recipients are protected from harm by donating or receiving donor human milk.
